The Temple of Domitian

The temple and altar served the imperial cult and were dedicated to Emperor Domitian (AD 81–96), however after his death and condemnation of his memory (damnatio memoriae) they were dedicated to the Flavian family. The temple with 8 × 13 columns constructed upon a six-stepped substructure (24 × 34 m) stood on a terrace leaning on mighty buttresses. It was ripped down to its fundament after the victory of Christianity and today it has almost totally disappeared.
